Here we see people taking advantage of the morons who pretend to report news. Can these reporters not discern propaganda? The elephant in the room, ignored by each of the participants and the reporter, is that people should only buy from the least expensive station, then the prices asked of the public would find their way down.
We live in free country, and we still choose where over half of our money goes, why not only to the least expensive station?

"Silver Bullet"? I prefer a Cross and Holy Water.
A "pannel" of supposed experts ... a commission ... an exercise in lunacy to satisfy a blatant lack of leadership and "share the responsibility and/or blame" for inaction.

We need to take our conservation efforts to a higher level and make them our way of life, even if this crisis gets resolved, which is highly unlikely.

Mass transit may be inconvenient, but it is still one of the best ways for many of us to combat high gas prices. If we all continue to be lazy & take the easy (albeit expensive) way out, then we have no room to complain. Government should be doing more than they are, but so should we.

But if we never start to find alternative methods we never will find any. This is a start as long as when the price goes back down we go back to our old ways of doing things. (That doing nothing at all)

Too often this forum becomes a battleground between those who say drill and those who say no to drilling. Life is about compromise. The energy dilemna is more complicated and the approaches to energy diverification are complex. We need to diversify. Maybe T. Bone Pickens is headed the right direction. He was an oil man but he now sees a diversified approach is the way to go.Natural gas, wind, solar are not dirty words! They could be the way to our energy future. And by the way, Al Gore is not a dirty word either..he won a Nobel prize and he is very sharp and knows practically everything about the environment and I only wish people would listen more to people who think like him.

On e step at a time. Drive smart and conserve. Drill now for the future, consider converting to natural or propane for now, its a lot cheaper than petrol. The conversion is a lot less expensive than purchasing a whole new type of vehicle. The current oil prices are still outrageous and based on pure speculation.

dyeh, even T Boone says we need to drill more in America so does that mean you agree with us Drill, drill drill people? Like him I say we need to drill more while we look for alternatives. We are looking for alternatives so we now need to drill more! Makes sense to me.

There is no oil shortage. 70 mpg carburetors exist. There is no scientific formula which proves that oil is fossil fuel (true). Elvis is dead though.

No matter what they say, you can't stop events like Ike, raising prices. See - One to Watch If Ike hits or not, prices will still rise for the moment. The swing for a big drop, could also be there, as the U.S. dollar is still strengthening.

The posters here who keep saying 'drill drill drill' are nothing more than lackeys for the oil industry who probably hold stock in oil companies, if not more.
Real changes need to happen. The T.Boone Pickens plan is one that offers a viable alternative.

dakota4x4's message is right on target and correct...no matter the poster's party affiliation. Unfortunately he starts it out badly with name calling. You have to remember that oil is a fungible commodity...just because it is extracted in the US, doesn't mean it will be only used by Americans! Whatever is extracted is just added to global market.
I also like dinahf's post...it is also on target.

Oh, Cdaisy. Do you know what a hypocrite he is? Do you know how much his mansion burns in energy? It's even worse after he made it green. That's the problem with all this hyped up energy saving stuff. Many times it takes more energy to do some of this stuff than the fix supplies. These things can't be done for symbolic reasons. They need to be studied to see if there is a real savings in energy and not just because it makes someone or the government "look" like they are doing something.
'The bottom line here is from the Tennessee Public Policy Center, Algore "uses more electricity in his mansion outside Nashville than 20 average homes combined for a year. His twenty-room, eight bathroom mansion, located in the Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service. The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours." '
Why would anyone believe him about our environment?! Especially since there were so many flat our lies and misleading pictures in his movie. Polar bears aren't dying because of global warming!
